For years, fans have been begging for a series adaptation of the horror film 13 Ghosts. Finally, it appears that their prayers may finally be answered.

Dread Central is reporting that Patrick Mediate (Primordial Pictures) and “Fear the Walking Dead’s” SFX Supervisor Aaron McLane have announced their partnership with Dark Castle Entertainment to develop and pitch the series to Sony Pictures Television.

Dread Central shared some images from the pitch.

This would not be Dark Castle’s first experience with 13 Ghosts. Back in 2001, Steve Beck and Dark Castle teamed up for the movie that starred Tony Shalhoub and Scream‘s Matthew Lillard. Of course, that movie was a more terrifying reimaging of the 1960 classic that was directed by William Castle.

The anthology series featuring different directs per episode will reportedly cover one ghost per episode. If the series stays true to the 2001 film, it will feature the thirteen ghosts of the Black Zodiac, The Angry Princess, The First Born Son, The Bound Woman, The Hammer, The Jackal, The Juggernaut, The Torso, The Torn Prince, The Pilgram, The Great Child and The Dire Mother, and The Withered Lover.

“Every culture in the world has its ghost stories, and this re-imagining of 13 Ghosts presents an international sampling of these supernatural tales. The ghost stories within each episode will have their own stylistic look and feel that will be explored and influenced by each individual director. This makes our ghost vignettes stand out stylistically as they set the theme for each episode.”

In the 2001 version, when Cyrus Kriticos, a very rich collector of unique things, dies, leaving his house and fortune to his nephew. After entering the house with his family, Arthur learns that the house is actually a machine driven by ghosts. You can watch 13 Ghosts (2001) now on Max, AppleTV, Prime Video, YouTube, and Plex.
