French filmmaker Mathieu Turi (Hostile, Meander) is back with a new tale of terror, The Deep Dark (aka Gueules Noires, aka Dark Faces), which premieres this Winter. The new trailer teases a claustrophobic environment and a killer creature.
Set in 1956 France, the film sees “A band of underground miners is forced to lead a professor to take samples a thousand meters underground. After a landslide prevents them from going back up, they discover a crypt from another time and unknowingly wake up something that should have remained asleep.”
Samuel Le Bihan, Amir El Kacem, Jean-Hugues Anglade, Thomas Solivérès, Marc Riso, Diego Martin, Bruno Sanches, and Philippe Torreton star in this horror film.
“Dark Faces (Gueules Noires) will be a mix of horror and adventure, in the best tradition of H.P. Lovecraft stories, but set in a French reality and a strong social context,” Turi stated recently. “After Meander, I’m lucky enough to work again with Fulltime Studios on this crazy project I deeply love. It’s going to be a character-driven story, confronting the old and the new generations in an exciting and terrifying quest to the unknown.”
The Deep Dark is set to make its French premiere on November 29, 2023, from Alba Films. As soon as a US release date is announced, we’ll let you know; in the meantime, check out the trailer.
