Spooky season has begun, and Halloween will soon be here. That means it’s time to get your costumes ordered. We do Halloween big where I come from (a small, no-name town in Georgia). I have started looking for ideas for my costume on HalloweenCostumes.com. And while I’m still narrowing it down, I did find some costumes for one family member, my dog Freyja. Yes, I’m one of those people.
Freyja, who is a combination of seventeen different breeds, including Great Pyranese, Pit, Chihuahua, and Jack Russell, according to her DNA test, is a little hard to fit. She’s short, wide, and as round as a butterball turkey. The girl doesn’t miss a meal. So I assumed I’d run into a little trouble with costumes fitting right. Unfortunately, that was the case with the Jack Skellington costume. The hat with the face was not a problem. However, the large size costume was at least two sizes too small. I couldn’t get her short little legs into it with the arm holes ending up on her sides.
It was cute, though, and featured some really cool details like Jack’s tie and was of excellent quality. I’ll be honest, I’m bummed that it doesn’t fit, but there’s one good thing about buying ahead of time, HalloweenCostumes.com does have a return policy. I would recommend ordering a few sizes up.
I also ordered a dinosaur costume (an X-large), and it is so freaking cute!! I’m a bit of a dino nerd (and proud of it), so seeing my little stegosaurs running around the house absolutely thrilled me! I love it!
The costume comes padded so that its muscles stand out, and its bony plates that run down the back stand up. It fully covers the legs, and the little hat, which features big yellow eyes, is adorable. It took a minute to get it on, but it was so worth it!
With Fall weather coming soon (I hope), it’s time for me to break out Freyja’s sweaters and jackets (she has super thin fur and gets cold easily). So, I picked up a Chathulu sweater from the site as well. I once again ordered a large. This time, it was a perfect fit. It slid right on.
I love that it has arm holes instead of sleeves. She hates sleeves. Plus, it makes it easier to put on. It is super soft and very well-made and isn’t itchy like a lot of dog sweaters. It is black and kelly green with a lime-colored Chathulu and runes of some ancient sort on the back, which is a nice detail.
After she tried it on, she decided to go take a nap in it, so the sweater obviously has Freyja’s stamp of approval, and that’s what really matters. After all, she’s the one who has to wear it. She also didn’t have that “Mom, what are you doing to me?” look on her face while it was on, which was a plus.
Several sweaters are on the site, and I would highly recommend any of them. Everything from holiday sweaters to sweaters is made for the dog with a spooky style. I’ll definitely be picking up more, especially the Krampus sweater.
While you’re on HalloweenCostumes.com looking for your costume, don’t forget your furfamily. They want to get their spooky on, too.
