Less than a month after its September premiere in theaters, The Nun II, the latest entry of the ever-expanding Conjuring universe, is coming home after bringing in more than $101 million at US box offices.
The Nun saw Sister Irene and Father Burke investigate a suicide at a remote convent in Romania. Sister Irene may have won that battle, but unknown to them was the fact that the demon escaped inside their guide, Frenchie.
The Nun II, set in 1956, four years after the events in Romania, sees a priest is murdered. Evil is spreading at the school where Sister Irene now teaches. Once again she must face the demon Nun.
The sequel sees the return of Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene, Anna Popplewell as Kate, Katelyn Downey as Sophie, Jonas Bloquet as Frenchie, and Bonnie Aarons as Valak/the Nun. Storm Reid joins them.
Michael Chaves (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) directed from the script by Akela Cooper, Ian Goldberg, and Richard Naig. James Wan is co-producing along with Peter Safran (The Nun). Judson Scott is producing.
James Wan’s Conjuring franchise has expanded greatly since The Conjuring premiered in 2013 and has since branched out into several spin-off franchises, including Annabelle and The Nun, which grossed over $365 million at box offices. Made on a budget of $22 million, The Nun holds the title of the highest-grossing film of the entire franchise.
Horror fans are in for a treat this spooky season with The Nun II coming to Digital and VOD on October 3, 2023, followed by it release on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD on November 14th, from Warner Bros.
