After bringing in over $250 million at box offices, The Nun II is coming home just in time for Halloween.
The Nun saw Sister Irene and Father Burke investigate a suicide at a remote convent in Romania. Sister Irene may have won that battle, but the demon escaped inside Frenchie, their guide. Frenchie’s exorcism was shown in the video at Ed and Lorraine Warren’s seminars twenty years later. During the exorcism, Lorraine had horrific visions of Ed’s death, which was explored in The Conjuring 2.
The Nun II, set four years after the events in Romania, will see the return of Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene, Anna Popplewell as Kate, Katelyn Downey as Sophie, Jonas Bloquet as Frenchie, and Bonnie Aarons as Valek/the Nun. Storm Reid joins them.
Michael Chaves (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) was directed from the script by Akela Cooper, Ian Goldberg, and Richard Naig. James Wan is co-producing along with Peter Safran (The Nun). Judson Scott is producing.
James Wan’s Conjuring franchise has expanded dramatically since The Conjuring premiered in 2013 and has since branched out into several spin-off franchises, including Annabelle and The Nun, which grossed over $365 million at box offices. Made on a budget of $22 million, The Nun holds the title of the highest-grossing film of the entire franchise.
