From JFR Productions, behind Johnny Gruesome, comes the no-budget, mostly improvised holiday horror movie Humbug.
John Renna (Slime City Massacre, Porkchop 3D), in association with Jason John Beebe (Crossbreed, Ombis), has been secretly working on the no-budget rubber monster movies whose trailer has now been unleashed.
In the movie, “A regular guy (Renna) is bitten by a rare insect while looking for Christmas decorations, with bloody and sometimes hilarious consequences. He is slowly transformed into a walking incubation chamber with a penchant for blood (and condiments). The man’s personality, wants, and desires are replaced by an insect-like instinct to survive.
The creature is attracted to food, warmth, and sounds that will cover up the unsettling noises of your brain being eaten from the inside out. After his family is killed, Brandon Reeves (Beebe) tries to cope with the loss by hunting down his family’s killers. This doesn’t sit right with Detective Travolta (Adrian Esposito), who is just trying to do his job and bring this killer to justice.
Humbug is described as “a surprisingly fun, scary, and bloody film with a splash of ridiculous humor that makes this strange little movie into a fun holiday romp through fake blood and rubber.”
John Renna pulls out all the stops, relying heavily on old-school practical FX, Puppets, and animation to bring this strange holiday world to life.
Humbug test screens on December 12th at The Screening Room at 6:30 pm & 8:30 pm. Those who attend can watch the film with the cast and crew!
