Prepare for a love story unlike any other, where death is just the beginning! Lisa Frankenstein, a horror-comedy at the top of our 2024 must-see list, is a fresh spin on Mary Shelley’s classic. It brings us a teenage girl falling head-over-heels for the most unconventional crush – a handsome, reanimated Victorian corpse.

Diablo Cody, who penned this darkly comedic tale, is the mind behind the movie. with a serious 80s feel. Zelda Williams is making her feature film debut, promising a hilarious and heartwarming twist on the traditional Frankenstein narrative. Lisa, the ultimate misunderstood high schooler, stumbles upon an unusual solution to her love life – reanimating the perfect boyfriend from beyond the grave. It features a playful blend of morbid humor, teenage angst, and a dash of the macabre.

Expect gore and giggles in equal measure, as hinted by the film’s PG-13 rating for “violent content” and “bloody images.” The official synopsis teases a “coming-of-rage love story” involving a “murderous journey to find love, happiness… and a few missing body parts along the way.”

Stars like Carla Gugino, Liza Soberano, Joe Chrest, and Henry Eikenberry join Katheryn Newton and “Riverdale” actor Cole Sprouse in this electrifying film. This is not the first horror-comedy for Newton. She also starred in the 2020 horror-comedy Freaky.

This odd tale of love and the undead, Lisa Frankenstein, will arrive in theaters on February 9th, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
