Let me set the scene for you. Imagine a cold, rain-battered New York City, where secrets lurk in the shadows, and a mysterious object hurtles from the sky. Crashing through a grimy windowpane, it hatches, revealing not a cute alien baby but, in reality, it is a monstrous spider with an insatiable hunger. This is the chilling premise of Sting, an upcoming film that blends sci-fi thrills with horror.

The Story:

Enter Charlotte, a 12-year-old rebel armed with imagination and a deep love for comic books. Lost in the world of her own co-created superhero “Fang Girl,” she struggles to connect with her distracted family. In the midst of the chaos, the strange spider from the egg, affectionately named Sting, becomes her secret companion. But as Charlotte’s fascination grows, so does Sting, transforming from a cute, tiny curiosity into a terrifying, terror-inducing, bloodthirsty monster.

The synopsis paints a gripping picture of escalating horror. Vanishing pets, missing neighbors, and the creeping realization that a monstrous arachnid stalks the building. Trapped within, Charlotte, the girl who once escaped into comic books, finds herself thrust into a real-life nightmare.

But within this frightening scenario lies a spark of hope. Charlotte is the only one who understands Sting and might hold the key to stopping it. Is she destined to become the superhero she once fantasized about, the real-life “Fang Girl” who saves the day?

The SFX:

The incredible practical effects are from the 5-time Academy Award® Winner Weta Workshop, led by Creative Director Richard Taylor (Blade Runner 2049, King Kong, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy).

An Arachnophobia-inducing Experience:

Directed by Kiah Roache Turner and promising an arachnophobia-inducing experience, Sting arrives in select theaters on April 12th, 2024. It holds the potential to be more than just a monster movie. It’s a story about family, isolation, and the unexpected courage that emerges when faced with unimaginable threats. Check out the first images below, but here’s a warning: if you’re scared of spiders, this may be too much for you to handle. The trailer should arrive soon.
