Grab your popcorn and prepare for a blood-soaked trip with the upcoming horror film Brute 1976. This film, directed by Marcel Walz (Blood Feast), is a clear love letter to the genre’s golden age. It specifically draws inspiration from the terrifying likes of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes. The film’s first images have been revealed, and we’re definitely getting that ’70s vibe.

Things get “Savage.”

Written by Joe Knetter (Twilight of the Dead), Brute 1976 throws viewers into the unforgiving desert landscape. The story follows Raquel and her girlfriend, whose road trip to a celebratory photoshoot takes a horrifying detour when their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. While they explore an abandoned mine, the photoshoot crew ultimately stumbles upon the deserted town of Savage. A town scarred by a dark and violent past. Little do they all know, a twisted family of psychopaths has claimed Savage as their own. The family is determined to ensure the town lives up to its brutal reputation.

Rising Stars

The film boasts a cast of rising stars, including Adriane McLean (Horizon: An American Saga), Sarah French (That’s a Wrap), and Gigi Gustin (Night of the Missing). Dazelle Yvette and Adam Bucci round out the cast.

A Love Letter

Both Walz and Knetter openly acknowledge their deep respect for the classic horror films that inspired Brute 1976. Walz details the filming experience: “It was hot, it was dirty, and it was bloody. I’m sure the audience will feel that on screen.” Knetter calls it a love letter to “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre,” a film he considers the pinnacle of horror cinema.
