Get ready for a headbanging good time with a side of chills! This year’s Liquid Death Presents Download Festival is about to get even more exciting thanks to a new partnership with Hammer Films, the legendary horror movie studio.

For the first time, Hammer Films will bring its iconic horror to the Download Festival, the ultimate celebration of rock and metal music and now horror, with screenings of Hammer classics.

This unholy matrimony extends beyond the screen. A commemorative, limited-edition T-shirt will be available exclusively at the festival, a must-have for any horror and metal fan. And for those who genuinely want to take a piece of the experience home, Old Sarum Tattoo, celebrating its 11th year at Download, will offer exclusive Hammer horror flash tattoo designs. Each tattoo comes with a co-branded sticker, making it a truly unique memento.

Hammer Films’ COO, Jonathan Lack, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration. He sees it as a perfect way to connect with horror and metal fans who love the dramatic and dark. He promises a unique blend of chills and thrills “in the festival’s heart.”

Andy Copping, Festival Booker for Download Festival, echoed Lack’s excitement. He views the partnership as a way to create unforgettable experiences for fans, going beyond just the music. With fright night screenings, the limited-edition T-shirt, and the killer tattoos, Copping promises fans are “in for a treat.”

Darren Hubbard, Owner of Old Sarum Tattoo, is equally thrilled. He sees it as an honor to partner with Hammer Films and is excited to offer fans a way to celebrate their favorite horror classics through unique tattoos.

This collaboration between Hammer Films, the Download Festival, and Old Sarum Tattoo is a match made in genre heaven (or perhaps hell). The exclusive T-shirt and limited-edition tattoo designs promise to be collector’s items, while the horror screenings will add a whole new dimension to the Download experience.

With Hammer Films launching its online store later this year, fans can look forward to even more ways to celebrate their love of horror. Just remember, the limited-edition T-shirts won’t last forever!

Hammer Films, a titan of the silver screen, celebrates its 90th anniversary this year. Founded in 1934, it is one of the world’s oldest film companies. Renowned for its chilling horror masterpieces like Dracula and The Mummy, Hammer also produced notable works in other genres. These include science fiction films like Quatermass, classic adaptations like The Hound of the Baskervilles, and war dramas like Yesterday’s Enemy.

The 1960s ushered in Hammer’s golden era. Sequels featuring Frankenstein and Dracula solidified the studio’s dominance in horror, making actors Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee household names. Hammer further diversified its offerings with chilling monster movies like The Gorgon and The Plague of the Zombies, alongside suspenseful psycho-thrillers like Taste of Fear and Paranoiac.

After a period of dormancy, Hammer was resurrected in August 2023 by award-winning British theatre producer John Gore. This marked a new chapter for the studio. Gore’s vision is to combine the nostalgic charm of Hammer’s classics with modern innovation. With an exciting slate of new productions in the works, Hammer is poised to solidify its legacy as a true pioneer in the genre.
