Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence is stepping in front of and behind the camera to star and produce a new murder mystery titled The Wives, a collaboration between A24 and Apple.
Plot details are under wraps, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film draws inspiration from the dramatic world of the “Real Housewives” franchise. Expect a glimpse into the lives of wealthy women, where glamour and gossip collide, with a deadly twist.
Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley, known for their work on the Pulitzer Prize-nominated play Circle Jerk, penned the screenplay. They also co-wrote This American Wife, a play exploring the relationship between gay men and the “Real Housewives” phenomenon. This experience positions them perfectly to translate the world of reality TV into a thrilling narrative.
Justine Ciarrocchi, Jeremy O. Harris, and Josh Godfrey will join Lawrence as producers. With this powerhouse team assembled, The Wives promises to explore wealth, power, and the dark side of domesticity.
While details about the film’s release date and additional casting are yet to be revealed, The Wives is already generating buzz. Lawrence’s return to production and the intriguing premise based on the “Real Housewives” franchise ensure this will be a project to watch.
