I was among the many who headed to theaters this weekend to see Deadpool & Wolverine. It was a great experience, not only the movie but hearing the laughter and shock of those around me.

WARNING SPOILERS

Deadpool & Wolverine begins with a sad and pathetic Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds), heartbroken from his split with Vanessa (Morena Baccarin). He’s trying to be the man she wants him to be while working as a car salesman (yes, really). Suddenly, a time agent, Mr. Paradox, offers him the chance to be the antihero we all love again. Unfortunately, he is told that his timeline is ending because Wolverine died. He gives himself a new mission, finding a Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to replace this world’s dead hero and save the timeline. Of course, with Deadpool involved, nothing is easy, and nothing goes as planned.

Skipping through worlds, Deadpool finds a Wolverine who just might work. The two constantly fight as Deadpool tries to convince him to serve as the new anchor for the timeline so that it can be saved, but they are racing against time and running out.

When Deadpool and Wolverine are sent into an apocalyptic world known as “The Void,” they meet other iconic heroes and set out to take down the big bad, Xavier’s sister, Cassandra Nova. They must escape to stop Paradox so they can save the timeline. This unleashes chaos, battles, and hilarious one-liners.

Among the characters we expected to see again, like Vanessa and Blind Al, we also got a horde of cameos from classic Marvel Characters. One, Wesley Snipes as Blade, brought cheers from the crowd. Not only that, but his appearance broke two world records. Along with Snipes was Channing Tatum as the card-slinging character Gambit. He’s getting significant love online between Tatum nailing Gambit’s look and personality, his thick Louisiana accent, and funny quotes. Chris Evans gave an improved performance as Johnny Storm (Fantastic 4 sucked). He had some surprising foul-mouthed comments that earned a few laughs during his brief appearance.

Ryan Reynolds, who also co-wrote the movie, delivers Deadpool’s iconic naughty hilarity, which we’ve grown to love. And you better believe there’s nonstop action, emotion, and fight scenes. As always, he’s a fun antihero to watch.

Hugh Jackman, somehow still chiseled like a Greek god, brings Wolverine’s signature gruffness and bitterness to life while kicking major ass. After all these years, he’s still as sharp as ever.

One interesting thing that Deadpool and Wolverine did is bring all of the classic characters into one world and keep them together, leaving the opportunity for multiple sequels and spin-offs to follow, and you better believe I’m here for it.

What would Deadpool be without the nonstop, balls-to-the-wall action? You’ll get more than enough in this movie. The special effects are on point. The kills looked great and were creative, and the action was seamless.

Over the past week, I’ve seen post after post about sacrilegious scenes. To this, I say, get a life. It’s a movie that is mild compared to the outrage it has earned. It’s Deadpool; you know exactly what you are getting into with it. Nothing is safe; you never know what will come from his mouth. That is one reason we love him. That and because he’s a bad boy with a great heart.

Deadpool & Wolverine is a movie about redemption, love, and the legacies we leave behind. Despite the funny quips and fights, the film has a lot of heart and does not disappoint. Watch it now in a theater near you.
