Steven Soderbergh’s latest film, Presence, has just unveiled its first trailer. But know this: the film is not for the faint of heart. The psychological horror thriller has been sending shockwaves through audiences and critics alike.
In the first teaser trailer, we see an aerial shot of a dark road as titles of Soderbergh’s previous films appear. We then see an inner shot of a dark house. We’re given just enough taste of the movie to want to know more.
Written by David Koepp, Presence centers on the Payne family as they move into a seemingly ordinary suburban home, only to discover a terrifying presence lurking within.
The film’s intensity has been so overwhelming that some viewers have been unable to finish it. Cast members Lucy Liu, Julia Fox, and Chris Sullivan have also confessed to being deeply affected by its disturbing content.
Despite its harrowing nature, Steven Soderbergh‘s Presence has garnered critical acclaim, earning a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans of Soderbergh and the genre will have to wait a while to see it. Presence from Neon will open in theaters on January 17, 2025.
