Daniel XIII; the result of an arcane ritual involving a King Diamond album, a box of Count Chocula, and a copy of Swank magazine, is a screenwriter, director, producer, actor, artist, and reviewer of fright flicks…Who hates ya baby?

A lil’ disclaimer before we start…

I have worked with at least 3 people (after seeing the credits it’s more) that are in or have worked on this film on projects of my own. It won’t influence my review, but if that turns you off and you skip this review, I get it. Moving on…

Cocaine Werewolf begins the only way it could, with a lady propositioning a werewolf for sex… oral sex no less… oh, and it’s a case of mistaken identity.

After that the werewolf interrupts some drug cartel biz, before putting the bite on a stranded stock broker named Jack (Brice Kennedy) who examines the aftermath and is delighted to find multiple bags of cocaine. Said businessman then transforms into another werewolf… but a werewolf with a drug habit… a habit which allows him to transform anytime he takes a snort in human form.

Now a regular werewolf is one thing to contend with, but one that is high off his hairy ass with visions of strippers and cash dancing in his noxious noggin’… well that’s a recipe for a high body-count right there my cats n’ creeps… a body-count that has peaked the curiosity of the local lawman (Ken Van Sant).

Simultaneously, an independent fright flick is filming in the area, and our anti-hero soon stumbles into that fracas nose first… but will the cast and crew be the rampaging beast’s next victims, or will the long arm of the law pull together the clues in time to save the day?!

Look, you know damn well what you’re getting into with a flick named Cocaine Werewolf, and legendary B-movie maestro Mark Polonia makes sure you certainly get a lot of it… cocaine and werewolves I mean, but along with that you also get some solid laughs as the film never takes itself too seriously (thanks to it’s tongue and cheek screenplay from Tyger Torrez working from a premise by Ford Austin) and absolutely runs with it’s premise full bore!

The cast is game as well, and filled with familiar faces from past Polonia pics and they truly make the film a ton of fun to witness, as does the costume utilized for the titular beast; an eternally openmouthed, long of tooth and nail (hell everyone of this crazy creatures nails would be more than adequate for some nose candy sniffery), glowing eyed maniac that is appropriately over-the-top whenever he makes the scene.

The film also boasts a dark synth and rock soundtrack, great late Fall scenery, and a surprise ending that promises more monstrous action to come! Really my only major gripe with this one is the utilization of CG blood; I’ve always hated it, and probably always will.

If you’re looking for a fright flick that isn’t afraid to tickle your funny bone while it gnaws on it at the same time, Cocaine Werewolf may be right up your arcane alley!
