Get ready for a Pinocchio tale unlike any you’ve seen before! Beehive Books releases its Illuminated Edition of Carlo Collodi’s classic novel, featuring a dream team collaboration:

Legendary comic artist Mike Mignola (creator of Hellboy and the upcoming movie Hellboy: The Crooked Man) brings the story to life with over 50 original illustrations, capturing the tale’s charm, darkness, and chaos in his signature style.

Lemony Snicket, the mastermind behind A Series of Unfortunate Events, offers a unique perspective through over 100 annotations. Presented as “slipped-in” typewritten notes, they chronicle Snicket’s descent into “Pinocchio-induced madness” as he encounters the story for the first time.

More Than Just Illustrations

This Pinocchio goes beyond beautiful artwork. Snicket’s annotations promise to be an experience in themselves, filled with “surreal symbolism and commentary.”

Beehive Books Editor Josh O’Neil describes the edition as “not just a new edition…but a strange Borgesian experiment.” Referencing Jorge Luis Borges, the renowned Argentine writer known for his labyrinthine stories, O’Neil hints at a mind-bending experience for readers. Snicket’s “coffee-stained” and “ink-bloted” notes become a guide through “the wilds of Collodi’s tale,” offering a fresh perspective on the beloved fable.

This Pinocchio is part of Beehive Books’ Illuminated Editions imprint, known for bringing classic literature to life with stunning artwork by contemporary greats. Past collaborators include artists like the Balbusso Twins and writers like Guillermo del Toro.
