fFilmmaker Neill Blomkamp (interview) is back with his next movie, Alpha, starring Emmy-winning actor Aaron Paul. Paul is best known for his role as Jesse in the hit series “Breaking Bad.”
Alpha centers around a government-approved experiment on a death row inmate that goes horribly wrong. The inmate is transformed into an apex predator, and Paul’s FBI agent character is tasked with hunting him down.
Alpha marks a significant comeback for Blomkamp. He has faced several challenging years with his films Chappie and Demonic not getting a lot of love from viewers. He’s also been trying to get the District 9 sequel, District 10, made for years. However, his latest film, Gran Turismo, proved to be a critical and commercial success. The film, inspired by the true story of race car driver Jann Mardenborough, garnered positive reviews. It raked in over $122 million at the box office and earned a Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 98%.
With his movie Alpha, Blomkamp, known for his sci-fi talents, is returning to the genre that made him famous. And fans eagerly anticipate his return to form.
