Following the release of the first look last week, Shudder has just unveiled the trailer for its original horror film, Daddy’s Head, written and directed by Benjamin Barfoot (Double Date). The trailer introduces a family struggling with grief. But grief has nothing on the terrifying entity that now has its sights set on them.
In the wake of his father’s death, a boy (Rupert Turnbull) is left in the eerie solitude of a country estate. His only companion is his newly widowed stepmother (Julia Brown), who is struggling to navigate the overwhelming task of parenthood without her husband. Amidst the growing tension, the boy hears unsettling sounds and a familiar voice echoing through the corridors. Soon, the boy is haunted by the presence of a grotesque creature bearing a disturbingly familiar resemblance to his late father. Quickly, the sinister entity tightens its grip on their crumbling lives. The two must come together if they want to survive.
Daddy’s Head stars Julia Brown, Rupert Turnbull, and Charles Aitken. Nathaniel Martello-White rounds out the impressive cast. Matthew James Wilkinson and Patrick Tolan produce the film, featuring Miles Ridgway’s cinematography.
The Shudder Original Daddy’s Head will unleash terror when it screens at Fantastic Fest on September 22 and 23. Daddy’s Head will then arrive on Shudder on October 11. Stay entertained all season long with Shudder’s “Season of Screams” programming. Learn more here.
