Actor Bo Mitchell, best known for his roles in Netflix’s “Cobra Kai” and the series “East Bound & Down,” recently took on a more serious role in the campus thriller The Line. In the movie, Bo stars alongside Alex Wolff as Mitch, a young man struggling to fit in with his fraternity brothers. Thanks to his father’s money, Mitch is entitled and can get away with pretty much anything. He drinks too much and does too many drugs. When a tragic event happens, the entire fraternity is put in jeopardy, and it falls to Mitch and Tom (Wolff) to take the brunt of the responsibility.

The film is about much more than being one of the elite. It is about the downfall and dangers of being part of these fraternities. It’s about people being brainwashed and how easy it is to be sucked into the pack mentality. And how far someone can go to fit in. The story isn’t far out of fiction. Accidents and hazing aren’t unheard of. In fact, in 2001, a young man died during a hazing incident, and in 2022, a young man went blind from alcohol poisoning during hazing. These stories aren’t hard to find.
Don’t be mistaken; the movie is not all about disparaging frats. There are plenty of benefits to joining one as long as you don’t lose your voice or sense of self. That’s the message The Line, writer-director Ethen Berger, and Bo Mitchell want to spread. It is a cautionary tale. And it’s deeply personal for Bo, who revealed a heartbreaking story about a friend during our interview. Watch it below.
The Line is now playing in theaters. You can find theater locations and get tickets here. Follow Bo Mitchell on Instagram to stay current on his projects, including the second half of the new season of “Cobra Kai,” premiering on November 15.
