Director Carlos Omar De Leon, behind the films Killer Date and Creepypasta, has just released hismost recent short horror film, Cucuy, which you can watch below.
It tells the story of two sisters grieving their family members’ loss. Something emerges from the darkness to haunt them, turning their grief into terror. It explores the complex nature of dealing with self-guilt and grief, especially with those close to us.
Cucuy features a mostly Latin cast, including up-and-coming actresses Reyna Rios-Starr, Jocelyn Sanchez, actor Pedro Bayon, and Nathan Tymoshuk as the titular Cucuy.
Leon and Vince Phrommany co-wrote Cucuy, which aims to reach a broad audience online through social media and make the rounds at select film festivals in 2025. Ellie Insixiengmay served as Director of Photography and Lead Editor.
