Like every beloved horror movie these days, including the upcoming movies The Breed and Witchboard, the classic horror comedy Idle Hands is now set to get a remake from Sony.
Fangoria reports that Ghostbusters: Afterlife actor Fin Wolfhard and his co-star Billy Bryk have signed on to pen the script for the remake, which Afterlife’s director Jason Reitman will produce. Wolfhard and Bryk are currently in talks also to direct. The remake will mark Wolfhard and Bryk’s second film, with their first, Hell of Summer, being released in 2025.
The hilarious 1999 original starred Devon Sawa, Jessica Alba, Seth Green, and Vivica A. Fox. The movie centers on teenage stoner Anton Tobias (Sawa) and his two friends. When Sawa’s hand is possessed and goes on a killing spree, Anton decides to cut it off, unleashing the demonic appendage on the town.
We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, if you haven’t seen Idle Hands, which is downright criminal, you can now stream it on Prime Video and Apple TV.
