Beauty has always been an obsession. People want to look better, younger, different. The same is said about the comic book “The Beauty” from Image Comics. Of course, perfection is attainable in that world if you don’t mind paying the price. The comic franchise comes to life on the small screen in an upcoming series adaptation from Ran Murphy and FX.
Variety reports that Rebecca Hall, best known for her roles in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and The Listener, has now joined the cast alongside Ryan Murphy series regular Evan Peters. They are joined by Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Ramos, and Jeremy Pope.
The comic synopsis is as follows: “Modern society is obsessed with outward beauty. What if there was a way to guarantee you could become more and more beautiful every day? What if it was a sexually transmitted disease? In the world of The Beauty, physical perfection is attainable. The vast majority of the population has taken advantage of it, but Detectives Foster and Vaughn will soon discover it comes at a terrible price.”
Murphy and Matthew Hodgson co-created the 11-episode series based on the comic by Jeremy Haunn and Jason A. Hurley.
Ryan Murphy is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to series. He’s behind shows like “American Horror Story,” “Monsters,” “9-1-1,” “The Watcher,” and “Glee.” This leaves little doubt that “The Beauty” will also be good.
