Four-time Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) tackles his first film role in Lionsgate’s thriller Hurry Up Tomorrow.
The film, to be released on May 16, 2025, is timed with the debut of The Weeknd’s new album and tour of the same name that inspired the film. At the moment the plot is being kept quiet, but we’ll let you know the moment it’s announced.
Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan will also star. Barry Keoghan, Gabby Barrett, Charli D’Amelio, and Paul L. Davis round out the cast. Hurry Up Tomorrow is from writer-director Trey Edward Shults, behind the chilling film It Comes at Night (Prime Video).
“Abel is a visionary whose art cannot be confined by any single medium. With Hurry Up Tomorrow, in partnership with Trey, his musical universe expands onto the big screen with a psychological thriller that will usher in a new cinematic experience for fans. We are thrilled to be bringing it to audiences worldwide.” Lionsgate’s Adam Fogelson said about the artist.
The Weeknd released his first song, “Do It,” on August 16, 2009. He has been going strong ever since with hits like “Blinding Light” and “Can’t Feel My Face.”
Hurry Up Tomorrow is produced by The Weeknd’s Manic Phase banner, Reza Fahim, Kevin Turen, and Harrison Kreiss. Ortega, Shults, Michael Rapino, Ryan Kroft, Wassim “Sal” Slaiby, and Harrison Huffman are executive producing.
