Imagine this: a mysterious woman, cloaked entirely in black, materializes on your front lawn. She offers a chillingly simple warning: “Today’s the day.” There is no explanation, no context, just a spectral figure and a bone-deep sense of dread. That’s the unsettling premise of Blumhouse’s latest horror offering, The Woman in the Yard.
The film’s second, panic-inducing trailer has now arrived. It teases a family seized by heartache and in the grips of terror as the mysterious woman haunts them.
From the studio behind The Invisible Man and The Black Phone, The Woman in the Yard stars Danielle Deadwyler (Till) as a woman grappling with grief after a car accident claims her husband (Russell Hornsby). She now faces the daunting task of raising her son (Peyton Jackson; American Refugee) and daughter (Estella Kahiha; Will Trent) alone in their remote farmhouse.
When a woman (Okwui Okpokwasili) appears in her yard, Ramona initially dismisses her as lost or confused. However, the woman grows more menacing as she creeps closer to the house. It becomes clear that she’s no ordinary wanderer and that her intentions are far from benign.
Now, Ramona must summon every ounce of strength to protect herself and her children from the relentless pursuit of the woman who refuses to leave them in peace. The Woman in the Yard explores chilling themes of grief, isolation, and the unknown.
The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Black Adam, Jungle Cruise), who recently collaborated with Deadwyler on the action thriller Carry On. The film marks Sam Stefanak’s feature screenplay debut.
Jason Blum, the mastermind behind Blumhouse’s success, produces alongside Emmy-nominated Stephanie Allain, p.g.a. (Hustle & Flow). Deadwyler, Collet-Serra, James Moran, and Gabrielle Ebron serve as executive producers.
Head to theaters for a haunting experience on March 28, when The Woman in the Yard premieres.
