Get ready for some summer camp carnage with a fresh, youthful twist! NEON has just announced that Hell of a Summer, the directorial debut of Billy Bryk and “Stranger Things” star Finn Wolfhard, is hitting digital platforms today, April 22nd! So, if you’re craving some slasher fun with a side of coming-of-age awkwardness, your wait is almost over. For those who like to own their scares in physical form, the Blu-ray and DVD release will follow on July 8th.

Hell of a Summer marks a significant step behind the camera for “Stranger Things” fan-favorite Finn Wolfhard. He co-directed, co-wrote, and stars in the film alongside his directorial partner Billy Bryk (Ghostbusters: Afterlife). This isn’t just a side project; it’s a full-on dive into the world of horror for these young talents.

But that’s not all the summer camp goodness! NEON is loading up the home releases with some sweet bonus features. If you snag a digital or physical copy to own, you’ll be treated to a feature commentary track with the co-directors Bryk, Wolfhard, and star Fred Hechinger. Get ready for behind-the-scenes insights and probably some hilarious anecdotes. Plus, there’s a blooper reel, a cozy-sounding “fireside chat” with the filmmakers and cast, and even more surprises to dig into. The film’s setup is classic slasher territory. We follow 24-year-old camp counselor Jason Hochberg (Fred Hechinger, Fear Street: 1994). Jason arrives at Camp Pineway expecting his biggest challenge: his teenage co-workers’ social dynamics. However, his expectations are brutally shattered when a masked killer starts picking off the counselors one by one. Hell of a Summer promises a fun blend of genuine horror and dark comedy, aiming to capture the spirit of those beloved classic slashers while injecting a fresh, modern sensibility that resonates with a new generation.

Joining Hechinger and Wolfhard are D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (“Reservation Dogs”), Abby Quinn (“Mad About You”), and Pardis Saremi (Career Opportunities in Murder and Mayhem).

So, if you’re looking for a new horror flick or just curious to see what Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk can do behind the camera, Hell of a Summer is a bloody good time. Watch it now on digital. Keep an eye out for that loaded Blu-ray and DVD release in July!
