Hold on to your capes, “The Boys” fanatics, because the universe is about to get much bigger and more twisted! Prepare yourselves for “Vought Rising,” a brand-new prequel series that’s officially in the works. Guess who’s coming along for the ride? None other than Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, reprising their iconic “Boys” universe roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively! But that’s not all, Ackles is set to lead a second new series.

Vaught Rising

First, let’s talk about “Vaught Rising.” The setting for this twisted origin story is 1950s New York City. And for those of you already dreading Soldier Boy’s absence after that Season 4 finale cameo, fear not! Ackles also confirmed that he’ll be back for “The Boys” fifth and final season.

“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of ‘The Boys,’” exclaimed “The Boys” creator Eric Kripke and “Vought Rising” showrunner Paul Grellong in a joint statement that perfectly captures the tone we’ve come to expect. “It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.” Ackles said.

In season four, Homelander (Antony Starr) essentially took over the U.S. government after the new president enacted martial law. Homelander and Vought’s power has reached unprecedented levels. The Boys themselves have been scattered to the winds – kidnapped and taken to undisclosed locations, leaving them missing in action. The bombshell revelation revealed in Season 3 that Soldier Boy is Homelander’s father sets the stage for a blood-drenched family reunion in Season 5.

Countdown

But wait, there’s more! Jensen Ackles is also set to headline Prime Video’s new action-packed series, “Countdown,”  which will premiere on Wednesday, June 25th. The series will begin with a special three-episode premiere event followed by new episodes every week, leading to the season finale on September 3rd.

With its late June premiere, “Countdown” is poised to become one of Prime Video’s major summer releases. This also means we might see Ackles gracing the halls of San Diego Comic-Con once again this summer, should Prime Video choose to promote the new series at the annual pop culture extravaganza, where Ackles has been a beloved mainstay for years thanks to his roles in “Supernatural” and, more recently, “The Boys” franchise.

Countdown” has all the makings of Prime Video’s next big hit. Not only does it mark Ackles’ first headlining role since “Supernatural,” but it also hails from the creative mind of Derek Haas, the powerhouse behind Wolf Entertainment’s hugely successful “One Chicago” and “FBI” franchises. With those hit shows on hiatus for the summer, “Countdown” is a series you won’t want to miss.

The new series stars Ackles as LAPD detective Mark Meachum. He finds himself recruited into a top-secret task force following the high-profile murder of a Department of Homeland Security officer. As the official synopsis teases, “the hunt for the killer soon uncovers a plot far more sinister than anyone could have imagined, kicking off a race against time to save a city of millions.”

Toss in an incredible ensemble cast that includes Eric Dane, Jessica Camacho, Violett Beane, Elliot Knight, and Uli Latukefu, and you’ve got a series that’s practically guaranteed to be a summer binge-watching sensation!

A Talented Star

Between Jensen Ackles’ new series “Vaught Rising” and “Countdown,” and his reprisal of his role as Soldier Boy in “The Boys,” the star is going to be everywhere, and we are totally here for it. It’s about time that the world recognizes his talents.
