Blue Harbor Entertainment has announced the upcoming release of Brendan Devane’s chilling horror thriller The Sound, which will be released this summer.
A Chilling Story With A Real-World Connection
The Sound plunges viewers into the perilous world of extreme climbing. A group of climbers is granted access to the “Forbidden Wall,” a legendary and mysterious rock face closed off for decades. Among this elite team is Sean, played by Marc Hills, who has a personal connection to the formidable wall. Sixty-three years prior, his grandfather embarked on a fateful and ultimately tragic attempt to conquer it.
As the climbers begin their ascent, they soon encounter something more terrifying than sheer drops and treacherous terrain. A malevolent force begins to make its presence known. This quickly transformed their expedition into a harrowing and desperate battle for survival, hundreds of feet above the unforgiving ground. The breathtaking beauty of the climb soon gives way to a nightmare as the climbers realize they are not alone.
The Sound is from Brendan Devane, who directed, produced, and wrote the screenplay. Devane is known to horror fans for his recent feature, The Canyonlands.
Actors and Experts
The cast includes Marc Hills (Elephant Department) as the central character Sean, Rachel Finninger (“American Horror Story”), Nicholas Baroudi, Jocelyn Hudon (“The Strain”), and William Fichtner. Christina Kirkman, Jolene Kay, and David Clennon (The Thing) round out the ensemble. Experts from the climbing world, such as Hazel Findlay, Brette Harrington, Adrian Ballinger, and Alex Honnold, add to the realism.
Adding to the film’s atmosphere is a score composed by the acclaimed James Iha of The Smashing Pumpkins, promising a sonic landscape to amplify the tension and dread. Directors of Photography Ryan Galvan and Brett Lowell (The Climb) capture the stunning visuals, while Alex Russek (Reel Rock) handles the tight and suspenseful editing.
The film is produced by Brendan Devane under Sadieland Productions, with James Devane serving as executive producer.
Brendan Devane expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with Blue Harbor Entertainment, acknowledging the evolving landscape of independent film distribution.
He stated, “They understand that the traditional distribution model needs to adapt and change to better serve the many talented filmmakers who are trying to get their projects elevated above the noise. It’s refreshing to work with a distributor that focuses on the project’s needs and is filmmaker friendly along with bringing years of experience and knowledge in the distribution space. When we weighed our options, Blue Harbor Entertainment was a great fit and an easy decision. We are honored to work with them to bring audiences the exciting rock climbing action/horror The Sound.”
Blue Harbor Entertainment, in its statement, expressed its excitement for Devane’s vision:
“We’re big fans of what Brendan has accomplished with The Sound. His attention to detail and commitment to realism create a terrific aesthetic and environment for his film. Our favorite genre films are those where both of those elements play a major role, right alongside the characters and story. We can’t wait to make the audience’s palms sweat.”
In The Sound, they venture into the thrilling and terrifying heights of action-horror, promising a unique cinematic experience that will leave audiences breathless and on the edge of their seats. Prepare to face The Sound in theaters and on VOD on June 27! Keep an eye out for the trailer.
