A seriously stylish and likely blood-soaked trip back to the ’80s is heading your way! Deadline just announced that the Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision) has joined Flesh of the Gods. She will star alongside Kristen Stewart and Oscar Isaac in the upcoming vampire thriller Flesh Of The Gods. This dark fantasy comes from director Panos Cosmatos, the mind behind Mandy.
The Story
Isaac and Stewart will play Raoul and Alex, a married couple navigating the glittering nightlife of ’80s L.A. However, their routine of venturing into the electric nighttime realm takes a sharp turn when they cross paths with the mysterious woman (Olsen) and her hard-partying crew. Suddenly, Raoul and Alex find themselves seduced into a surrealistic world dripping with hedonism, thrills, and, you guessed it, violence.
Early Buzz
Andrew Kevin Walker, the writer behind the iconic thriller Se7en, penned the story based on a story he cooked up with Cosmatos. Adam McKay and Betsy Koch of Hyperobject Industries, Gena Konstantinakos, and Isaac for Mad Gene Media are producing. While no start date for shooting has been announced yet, the buzz around this project is already building. International sales are continuing this week at the prestigious Cannes market, handled by XYZ Films.
For fans of Kristen Stewart, this movie marks a return to her vampire roots after the Twilight saga. Olsen is a powerhouse known for her captivating performances, notably as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Flesh of the Gods also marks the fourth collaboration between Cosmatos and XYZ Films, who previously teamed up on the upcoming Miley Cyrus film Something Beautiful (set to debut at Tribeca in June) and have the intriguing Nekrokosm in development with A24.
With its ’80s L.A. setting, killer cast, and Panos Cosmatos’s direction, Flesh of the Gods sounds like it will be a stylish, surreal, and utterly captivating vampire thriller. Get ready to sink your teeth into this one! We’ll update you as soon as we know more.
