Get ready for some seriously retro-cool horror madness! Indie horror staple Todd Sheets is back, unleashing something truly out of this world (literally!). His new film, Wolf Moon Rising, is arriving soon.
We’re talking about a cosmic scream echoing through the void, a starship’s desperate last transmission, and a threat not from around here. Wolf Moon Rising has officially landed, and early buzz is through the roof! People are howling with excitement, calling it “a great time at the movies” and “a true kick ass crowd pleaser.” And get this – it’s hitting the road for a nationwide theatrical tour, bringing back the glory days of those awesome midnight movies, drive-in double features, and those gritty indoor grindhouse screens.
Out of This World Horror
Set way out in the inky blackness of deep space and oozing atmosphere, Wolf Moon Rising throws us onto the starship Amberstar. The crew is on a mission to check out a super mysterious distress signal from the lost vessel Charon 13. Big mistake! They face a savage, bloodthirsty threat that’s seriously out of this world: space-faring werewolves! Yeah, you heard that right. It’s a high-stakes, adrenaline-fueled battle for survival that’s gonna mix suspense, action, and some seriously visceral terror.
“This is a love letter to the golden era of genre cinema,” says Sheets, who’s been in the game since ’88 and has a crazy impressive resume with over 30 features and more than 126 international awards under his belt. “We crafted this in the spirit of Roger Corman’s classics like Galaxy of Terror, Forbidden World, and Humanoids from the Deep — but with our own modern spin. We wanted to give fans something they haven’t seen in a long time — something real, something alive.”
A Practical Effects Galore
And when they say “real,” they mean it! The movie was filmed on massive hand-built sets totally inspired by vintage sci-fi films. Not a single greenscreen in sight! And forget CGI overload—this movie features 90% practical effects. It’s a love letter to the genre films that made us scream (and maybe cheer a little) back in the day.
“We spent over 18 months crafting this film by hand — with love, sweat, and respect for the genre. We didn’t cut corners. We built a world,” Sheets adds with pride. “This is what movies used to feel like — and we want to bring that feeling back.”
This film looks like it’s gonna be a new creative high point for Todd Sheets, who’s already known for cult hits like Dreaming Purple Neon, Bonehill Road, and Zombie Bloodbath. His work has been a staple in the indie horror scene for decades. With Wolf Moon Rising, he’s reaching for the stars (pun intended!) while staying true to his indie roots.
A Must-See
Wolf Moon Rising is a must-see if you’re craving some old-school sci-fi horror with buckets of practical gore and a lot of love for the genre. It’s playing now in select theaters across the US.
