Brie Larson, the powerhouse actress we know from Captain Marvel, Kong: Skull Island, and her Oscar-winning role in Room, is stepping into the world of creature features! She’s set to star in Fail-Safe, a new horror film produced by J.J. Abrams.
Fail-Safe is being directed by JT Mollner, who recently helmed the critically acclaimed Strange Darling. Writer/director Brian Duffield, the filmmaker behind The Babysitter and No One Will Save You, adapted the tale for the screen.
According to Deadline, the movie is a modern take on the short story of the same name by horror author Philip Fracassi, known for his 2021 novel, Boys in the Valley. The original story is narrated by a twelve-year-old kid known only as “Son.” As the terrifying story unfolds, we learn that his parents are hiding a disturbing secret.
J.J. Abrams is already hyped, saying, “With Fail-Safe, Brian Duffield has written an absolute powerhouse of a script. It’s a horror film that is as sweet and moving as it is terrifying.”
Abrams has delivered many amazing projects, such as Super 8 and Overlord, and series like “Westworld” and “Lovecraft Country.” Needless to say, with this amazing team, including Abrams, Mollner, Duffield, and now Larson, Fail-Safe is pretty much guaranteed to be amazing.
