Hold onto your Santa hats, horror fans! Cineverse, the company behind the Terrifier franchise, has officially announced the release date for their highly anticipated reimagining of the cult Santa slasher, Silent Night, Deadly Night. And the best news? This festive fright-fest is aiming to hit theaters in North America just in time for Christmas 2025.
The Bondit-backed production has also unveiled a chilling first image of Rohan Campbell (The Hardy Boys, Halloween Ends) in the iconic role of protagonist Billy Chapman. For those who know the legend, Billy is the tormented soul who dons a Santa suit and embarks on a brutal killing spree.
Joining Campbell in the cast are Ruby Modine as Pamela, a colleague on whom Chapman develops an unrequited crush. Plus, newly announced additions include Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown, and David Tomlinson.
The Slay-Ride Continues
For those unfamiliar with the 1984 infamous original, Silent Night, Deadly Night tells the grim story of a child traumatized after witnessing his parents’ murder by a man dressed as Santa Claus. Years later, haunted by his past, he dons the red suit and delivers bloody revenge. The original film spawned multiple sequels and a loose remake in 2012, solidifying its place in slasher movie history.
This new reboot of the franchise is being written and directed by Mike P. Nelson (Wrong Turn, V/H/S/85). The project is produced by the original 1984 Tri-Star film’s producers, Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead, alongside Jamie R. Thompson (Old Henry, Gunslingers) of New Dimension, Erik Bernard of Rebel 6, and Jeremy Torrie of White Bear Films. It’s a fantastic blend of original creators and fresh talent!
The crew bringing this horrifying holiday tale to life includes Director of Photography Nick Junkersfeld, Production Designer Oscar Fenogolio, Costume Designer Laura DeLuca, Stunt Coordinator Kristen Sawatzky, Special Effects by Doug Morrow, Casting Director Jim Heber, and Composers Blitz Berlin, with Tanya Brunel as Line Producer.
