As Blumhouse celebrated its 15th anniversary at CCXP Mexico this weekend, founder and CEO Jason Blum himself hit the stage. Throwing a “horror quinceañera” packed with exciting updates, exclusive footage, and surprise reveals across both movies and games.
And speaking of movies, get ready for more animatronic horrors. Blumhouse just dropped the first poster for “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2”! The sequel to their box-office hit and their highest-grossing horror film of 2023. It promises a blood-chilling new chapter.
Emma Tammi, the acclaimed filmmaker behind the first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie (The Wind, Blood Moon), is returning to direct the sequel. And of course, Jason Blum (M3GAN, Black Phone, Halloween franchise) is back producing alongside game creator Scott Cawthon.
A Reunion
Here’s some truly exciting news for horror fans: we’re reportedly getting a Scream reunion in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2! Yep, you heard that right. It’s being said that Matthew Lillard and his Scream co-star Skeet Ulrich are teaming up again for this sequel!
Returning key cast members from the original include Josh Hutcherson, reprising his role as the beleaguered security guard Mike. Elizabeth Lail and Piper Rubio are also back.
The sequel will once again plunge viewers into the unsettling world of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. Seemingly innocent arcade and restaurant that conceals a dark and deadly secret. Hutcherson’s Mike must confront the five menacing animatronics while also protecting his 10-year-old sister Abby, who gets dragged into the terrifying ordeal.
A Hit Game
The Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise is based on Scott Cawthon’s hugely popular indie horror video game series, which debuted in 2014. The games, known for their jump scares and unsettling atmosphere, have cultivated a massive and dedicated fan base.
Coming This Winter
“Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” is set to premiere exclusively in theaters on December 5, 2025, promising another round of chilling encounters with the iconic animatronics. You can watch the original hit horror film now on Peacock to get ready!
