Horror fans are super excited about A24 and Peacock’s “Crystal Lake” series! After years of rumors and false hopes, the prequel series is finally on its way, and today, we have an update.
A Killer Cast
The cast continues to expand with Cameron Scoggins (“Nashville”) and Devin Kessler (“Godfather of Harlem”) joining alongside newcomer Gwendolyn Sundstrom.
Fans will be excited to learn that Cameron Scoggins will step into the role of the legacy character, Dorf. He is the police officer originally portrayed by Ron Millkie in the original Friday the 13th. Kessler will play Briana Brooks, and Sundstrom will portray Grace.
Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane has hinted that Scoggins is “one of many” legacy characters from the original film to appear in the series. So, keep your eyes peeled for more exciting announcements as “Crystal Lake” heads into production!
They’ll be joining the previously announced cast members Linda Cardellini (Scooby-Doo, Dead to Me) as the pivotal Mrs. Voorhees and William Catlett (Abigail, “Lovecraft Country”) as Levon Brooks in the prequel series.
Behind the Camera
There’s plenty of talent behind the camera as well, with directors for the first eight episodes set to include Michael Lennox (“Derry Girls”), the duo of Celine Held & Logan George (Caddo Lake), and Quyen Tran (“The Pitt”).
What is it about?
The series will dive deep into the tragic origins of the Friday the 13th saga. Mrs. Voorhees is a mother who gave up her singing career to raise her child with special needs. However, things take a dark turn when she loses her son, none other than Jason Voorhees himself.
