Saban Films will soon release the film Strange Harvest: Occult Murder in the Inland Empire. This faux-true crime documentary is from Grave Encounters writer-director Stuart Ortiz, one half of the filmmaking team, the Viscious Brothers. The film has officially received an “R” rating this week for “disturbing/grisly violent content and language.”
A Gruesome Discovery & the Return of a Killer
Strange Harvest plunges viewers into a horrifying mystery: “A routine welfare check in the San Bernardino suburbs leads to a gruesome discovery — a family of three has been bound, bled, and posed below a strange symbol written in blood on the ceiling. However, detectives Joe Kirby and Lexi Taylor recognize the symbol as the calling card of a killer from 15 years earlier. The killer known as Mr. Shiny has returned to continue his murder spree.”
The film features a cast that includes Peter Zizzo, Terri Apple, Andy Lauer, and Matthew Peschio. Janna Cardia, Thomas Wolfe Jr., Tim Shelburne, Christina Helene Bra, and LA Williams co-star.
What the Filmmakers and Critics Are Saying
Jonathan Saba and Shanan Becker, co-presidents of Saban Films, are thrilled about their latest acquisition. “Strange Harvest is like nothing you’ve ever seen,” they stated. “Stuart has crafted the perfect film for horror and true crime fans. You have to experience this wild ride on the big screen.”
Ortiz added, “It is my hope with Strange Harvest to take the audience on a hair-raising rollercoaster ride unlike any they’ve been on before — one that starts with a huge drop and has dozens of twists and turns they’ll never see coming.”
With an “R” rating confirming its intense nature and strong early buzz, Strange Harvest promises to deliver a genuinely unsettling experience for horror and true crime aficionados alike. The film will make its World Premiere at Fantastic Fest on September 22.
