Get ready to journey back into the Dreaming. Netflix’s “The Sandman” is returning for its second and final season this July! Fans have been eagerly awaiting more of Neil Gaiman’s beloved comic adaptation. And we now have the release schedule and a new trailer, which promises an epic season.
Season Two
The first season premiered on August 5, 2022. It covered the first two volumes of the seminal comics: Preludes and Nocturnes and The Doll’s House. A bonus animated episode (A Dream of a Thousand Cats/Calliope) followed shortly after on August 19, 2022.
Showrunner Allan Heinberg faces the ambitious task of adapting a vast amount of content into eleven final episodes! We know that “The Sandman” season two will include fan favorites like “Season of Mists” and “Brief Lives.” However, the season will also incorporate several one-shot issues from the comic, including “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Thermidor,” and “The Song of Orpheus.”
Returning Cast and New Faces
Among the massive ensemble cast, you can count on the return of Tom Sturridge as Dream, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, and Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, among others in season two.
While specific character details are still under wraps, the new season will introduce several key figures from the comics, expanding the already rich tapestry of Dream’s world. Confirmed new cast members include: Adrian Lester as Remiel, Andi Osho as Thessaly, Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, and Barry Sloane as Destiny. They are joined by Indya Moore as Wanda, Charlotte Ritchie as Eleanor, Dionne Brown as Hazel, Wil Coban as Barnaby, and Paul Kaye as The Fates.
