Today, June 20, marks the 50th anniversary of arguably the greatest film of all time, Stephen Spielberg’s Jaws, the first official summer blockbuster. Even after all this time, it remains one of the most influential films ever made, inspiring generations of filmmakers and fans alike.

In the film, when a massive killer shark unleashes chaos and death on a beach community off Long Island, it’s up to a local sheriff (Roy Scheider), a marine biologist (Richard Dreyfuss), and an old seafarer (Robert Shaw) to hunt the beast down.

The film features some of the most iconic scenes ever captured on film. For example, when Quint recounted his experience when the Indianapolis sank, it still gives me chills. Let’s not forget the iconic lines that have been quoted a million times, “You’re going to need a bigger boat,” and “Smile you son of a bitch!”
