Well Go USA, behind films like Train to Busan, has just announced the August release date for Shaman, a film that sees faith and folklore meet in a chilling story of possession.
A Son Possessed, A Village Endangered
The film follows a missionary family who travels to rural Ecuador with the noble goal of converting the indigenous population. Initially, all seems well, but their mission takes a terrifying turn when their son ventures into a forbidden local cave. He returns, but not alone – he’s brought a demonic spirit back with him.
Candice (Sarah Canning), the distraught mother, firmly believes that an exorcism rooted in Catholic tradition will free her boy from the evil bonds that bind him. However, the local shamans know better. They understand that this malevolent spirit is far older and more potent than her religion, and it must be dealt with according to their ancient ways. If not, the demon threatens to consume them all.
The Cast
Shaman stars Sarah Canning (The Vampire Diaries, Nancy Drew), Daniel Gillies (The Originals, Virgin River), and Jett Klyne (Doctor Sleep, WandaVision).
Out This August
Prepare for a tense, culture-clashing battle against an ancient evil. Will modern faith or old traditions prevail against the terrifying force unleashed in Shaman? Find out on August 8 when this supernatural horror opens in select theaters and arrives on digital!
