Variety has reported that “Sweet Revenge will be the centerpiece of the franchise’s bold 45th anniversary campaign.” So, what in the Camp Crystal Lake does that mean?
The Short Film
So, it sounds like Sweet Revenge is basically a commercial for Angry Orchard Hard Cider! Yep, you read that right. This short film is set to debut on the official Jason Universe YouTube channel. It will also be released on a special website hosted by Angry Orchard, which is “sponsoring the vignette as part of a larger collaboration with the franchise.” So, prepare for some slasher-approved apple goodness!
The Jason Universe is teasing that “fans will drop into a chilling weekend in the woods filled with blood-soaked surprises only Jason can deliver.” We’re hoping those surprises involve a bit more than just a refreshing beverage.
A Familiar Face Behind the Camera
Sweet Revenge will be directed by Mike P. Nelson, who recently wrapped production on the Silent Night, Deadly Night reboot. He’s also behind Wrong Turn and V/H/S/85; So, he’s no stranger to the genre.
Nelson shared his excitement, saying, “I am so grateful that the team at Horror, Inc. saw something in Sweet Revenge and wanted it as a part of the Jason Voorhees story! And to think 30 years ago I was trying to secretly watch these movies on VHS when no one was looking. To have the opportunity to write and direct one of these stories is surreal – not to mention having an amazing team led by Chad Villella and Brianna Lee Johnson help me bring it to life! Not only is the vignette a new take on the beloved IP, it is a comforting, gory hug, reminding us why we fell in love with these movies. Much gruesome fun awaits you!”

Angry Orchard is a US company that specializes in hard cider made from apples from its own orchards. Their cider flavors include Crisp Light, Crisp Imperial, Green Apple, and Rosé. The perfect drinks for kicking back and watching Friday the 13th movies.
Jason Universe is also a key player in the highly anticipated Peacock and A24 TV series “Crystal Lake,” a prequel to the original film franchise, which just began production last week.
