Have you ever wondered what happens to the “final girl” after she’s survived the slasher and the credits roll? Well, get ready for a hilarious and horrifying answer! Terror Films Releasing has teamed up with writer/director Jeremy Ashley to unleash the brutal horror-comedy Meathook.

Slasher Fun Meets Meta-Comedy

Meathook follows a traumatized “final girl” who thought her nightmares were over. However, when a new wave of killings begins, she has to confront her past and the fresh terror. Thankfully, with a bit of help from a true-crime podcaster.

Ashley shared his inspiration for the film: “‘What happens to the ‘final girl’ after the credits roll? Where does her story go from there?’ This is the question we dare to answer in Meathook, a slasher comedy that flips the script on the classic genre. The film weaves flashbacks throughout, uncovering the backstory behind the initial killings, while exploring deeper themes of depression and loss.”

He describes Meathook as a perfect blend: “Part homage to the slasher sub-genre, part deconstruction, Meathook walks the fine line between thrilling slasher and meta-comedy. It’s a quirky, low-budget love child of Scream, Cabin in the Woods, and I Know What You Did Last Summer, with a dash of the offbeat zaniness of Young Frankenstein.”

Starring Rene Leech, Havon Baraka, Buddy “Doc” Clements, and David Alan Graf, the film was a labor of love for the filmmaker and cast. The director calls it their “little film that could,” an actual labor of love where passion is evident in every frame. Hopefully, this translates to the screen.
