It’s official, the new installment, Jurassic World: Rebirth, has invaded theaters and is burning up the box office, bringing in over $30.5 million on its Wednesday opening night, according to Variety. In case you are wondering, it cost $180 million to make. But by the end of the weekend, that should be covered.
This film, the seventh installment in the franchise, promises a full-on action spectacle, and it boasts a powerhouse cast to support it. Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali lead the charge. Talk about a dream team facing prehistoric nightmares!
The story picks up years after the earth-shattering events of Jurassic World: Dominion. Scarlett Johansson steps into the boots of Zora Bennett, a highly skilled covert operative leading the top-secret mission to extract the precious dino DNA. However, as often happens in Jurassic movies, plans go awry after the team discovers a family whose boat is brutally attacked by aquatic dinosaurs. Now the group is stranded on the island, which is swarming with dinosaurs, including new species they’ve never seen before. Together, they uncover a sinister secret that’s been buried for decades and find a way to escape.
Gareth Edwards, the visionary director who brought us the epic Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is at the helm of this prehistoric project. Hence, you can be assured that the visuals will be stunning. Adding to the pedigree is the screenplay by David Koepp, who famously penned the script for the original Jurassic Park. That’s a serious nod to the franchise’s roots!
The cast also includes Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and Audrina Miranda, who play members of Reuben’s family. Philippa Velge and Ed Skrein round out the cast.
