Netflix is about to unleash a fantastic, dark, and chilling film that will leave you howling at the moon: The Cursed. In our original 2022 review, we described it as brilliant, dark, and brutal. Now, it’s coming to Netflix.
A Gothic Nightmare
Originally titled Eight for Silver, this Gothic horror film transports viewers to the late 19th century. The unsettling premise begins: “In a once-peaceful remote country village, inexplicable disappearances and brutal killings begin. Meanwhile, villagers whisper rumors of a cursed land, supernatural forces, and even demonic creatures. However, no one knows the true source of the terror. When pathologist John McBride arrives to investigate, he uncovers something far deeper and more sinister than he could have ever imagined.”
The film, written and directed by Sean Ellis, offers a chilling reimagining of the classic werewolf legend, crafted for a modern audience.
Star-Studded Cast & Critical Acclaim
The cast, which also includes Kelly Reilly (Yellowstone, True Detective) and Alistair Petrie (Sex Education), gave a fantastic performance.
The hair-raising film is produced by Ellis, Mickey Liddell, and Pete Shilaimon, with Alison Semenza and Jacob Yakob serving as executive producers.
Watch it This Weekend.
You can watch The Cursed on Netflix starting July 19, 2025! Don’t miss out on what we hailed as “one of the best movies of the year” when it was released.
