Heads up, Dead Heads! We are almost exactly one year away from the Evil Dead franchise’s return to the big screen with Evil Dead Burn. The good news is, it officially kicked off production this week!
A New Director, A Nasty Film!
Evil Dead Burn is being directed by Sébastien Vaniček (Infested), and Warner Bros. is set to unleash the film in theaters in 2026! The news about production came via Instagram. Check it out below.
Sébastien Vaniček co-wrote the screenplay for Evil Dead Burn with Florent Bernard. This promises a fresh take on the beloved and iconic horror franchise.
The cast is shaping up to be impressive, with Hunter Doohan (“Wednesday”), Luciane Buchanan (“The Night Agent”), and Tandi Wright (Pearl) starring alongside Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two).
Vaniček isn’t holding back on his vision for the film. “I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested,” Vaniček told Konbini, speaking about his Evil Dead project. “I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!” Sounds like he’s ready to go all out!
Sam Raimi’s Hand-Picked Horrors Continue!
Sam Raimi himself aims for upcoming filmmakers to put their own spin on the Deadites. Fede Alvarez directed his take on the original classic in 2013. Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise followed in 2023 – a decade after the remake came out. However, the franchise is far from complete. Ghost House Pictures recently hired Francis Galluppi (The Last Stop in Yuma County) to write and direct another brand-new Evil Dead installment, whose title has yet to be revealed.
