Alright, Five Nights at Freddy’s fans, prepare for more animatronic terror! The highly anticipated sequel, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, is set to unleash a blood-chilling new chapter. A brand-new trailer has just dropped. It gives us our first terrifying glimpse into the nightmare, hinting at even more danger as the animatronics escape!
Back to Where the Nightmare Began
The new trailer kicks off with a group of three foolishly entering the original Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria location. As they sneak around the building, they’re met with a terrifying surprise, reminding us that this seemingly innocent arcade and restaurant conceals a dark and deadly secret.
The trailer also gives us a quick look at the returning original cast, including Josh Hutcherson as the security guard Mike, Elizabeth Lail back as Vanessa, and Piper Rubio returning as the resilient Abby. The footage even highlights Abby, the young girl from the first film, who hasn’t given up hope of reconnecting with her animatronic “friends.”
Hutcherson’s Mike will once again plunge into the unsettling world of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. He must confront the five menacing animatronics – Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Rabbit, Foxy the Pirate, Chica the Chicken, and Carl the Cupcake – all while desperately trying to protect his 10-year-old sister Abby, who gets dragged into the terrifying ordeal.
A “Scream” Reunion for the Ages!
Here’s some truly exciting news for horror fans: we’re reportedly getting a Scream reunion in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2! Yep, you heard that right. Matthew Lillard (who played William Afton) and his Scream co-star Skeet Ulrich are reportedly teaming up again for this sequel! This adds a fantastic meta-layer for fans of classic slashers.
The Visionaries Behind the Horror
Emma Tammi, the acclaimed filmmaker behind the first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie (The Wind, Blood Moon), is returning to direct the sequel. And of course, Jason Blum (M3GAN, Black Phone, Halloween franchise) is back producing alongside game creator Scott Cawthon.
Five Nights at Freddy’s is based on Scott Cawthon’s hugely popular indie horror video game series, which debuted in 2014. The games, renowned for their jump scares and unsettling atmosphere, have cultivated a massive and dedicated fan base. The first film was a resounding box-office success, raking in $297.2 million globally against a $20 million budget.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is set to premiere exclusively in theaters on December 5, 2025, promising another round of chilling encounters with the iconic animatronics. You can watch the original hit horror film now on Peacock to get ready for the sequel!
