Back in 2020, Gerard Butler starred as a father fighting to save his family as meteors rained down on Earth in the action-packed disaster thriller Greenland. Now, the family will have to search for a new home in Greenland 2: Migration.
The sequel picks up after the devastating comet strike that wiped out much of the Earth. The Garrity family, played by Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, and Roman Griffith Davis, is forced to leave the safety of their bunker in Greenland. The film will follow their perilous journey across a shattered world in search of a new home.
Greenland 2: Migration also stars Amber Rose Revah, Sophie Thompson, Trond Fausa Aurvåg, and William Abadie.
Ric Roman Waugh, who directed the first film, returns to helm the sequel, Variety reports. Mitchell LaFortune and Chris Sparling wrote the screenplay. Anton, STX Entertainment, Thunder Road Pictures, and G-base Entertainment produce.
Lionsgate has just officially announced a release date for the sequel. Greenland 2: Migration is set to hit theaters on January 9, 2026.
