Scatena & Rosner Films has released the new serial killer horror film, No Tears in Hell, which is inspired by the terrifying true story of Russian serial killer Alexander Spesivtsev.
The film follows a mother and son during an Alaskan winter as they turn their home into a house of nightmares, luring victims into a twisted web of abuse and cannibalism, just as the real-life Spesivtsev did in Russia.
Directed by Michael Caissie, the film stars Luke Baines (Shadowhunters) as Spesivtsev, also known as the “Novokuznetsk Monster.” The late Gwen Van Dam (Star Trek: Generations) co-stars as Alexander’s enabling mother, Lyudmila. The film also stars Tatjana Marjanovic, Audrey Neal, Gabriella Westwood, and Erik Fellows.
Inspiration: The Real Killer
Alexander Spesivtsev was a Russian serial killer, also known as the “Novokuznetsk Monster” as well as the “Siberian Ripper.” Spesivtsev, aided by his mother Lyudmila, unleashed horror on Novokuznetsk. They lured street children and young women into their apartment, where victims endured torture, murder, and in some cases, cannibalism. Despite confessing to 19 murders following his arrest, evidence points to him being responsible for around 80 killings.
Filming Was An Emotional Challenge
Director Michael Caissie shared his profound experience making the film: “No Tears in Hell was without a doubt the most difficult, but rewarding film to make. From writing the script to physical production, and to ultimately seeing the finished film, it really was an emotional rollercoaster for everyone. From having to take emotional breaks from the writing, to witnessing cast, crew and even myself crying at the monitor because it was so intense, I knew I was making something important, and I’m really excited for audiences in North America, and all over the world to see this unforgettable film.”
No Tears in Hell promises a brutal and unflinching portrayal of one of history’s most terrifying criminals. Sink your teeth into the chilling, true crime-inspired horror film, No Tears in Hell, which is now available on VOD.
