A new blood-soaked horror-thriller called The Red Mask is set to have its worldwide premiere at this year’s FrightFest on August 23rd.

Create Entertainment and Intrinsic Value Films produce the film directed by Ritesh Gupta (Tough as Nails, True Life).

The movie stars Helena Howard (Madeline’s Madeline), Inanna Sarkis (After We Collided), Jake Abel (The Lovely Bones), and Kelli Garner (The Aviator). It’s also packed with a variety of popular horror content creators, including James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca.

What’s it all about?

The Red Mask centers on a reclusive screenwriter who goes to a remote cabin to work on a fresh take for an 80s slasher franchise. But things get spooky when the script starts writing back, and two creepy strangers show up. The lines between what’s real and what’s on the page begin to blur. This leads to a terrifying descent into horror, fandom, identity, and, of course, plenty of blood.

Excited about the film’s World Premiere at FrightFest, Director Ritesh Gupta said; The Red Mask is the kind of story I’ve been building toward for years: intimate, bloody, and loud. It’s brutally honest, weirdly funny, and deeply personal – and I can’t wait to watch it with the fans of FrightFest who truly love genre films. This is a movie about modern-day rage, obsession, culture wars and reclaiming authorship… with blood.”

Producer, Atit Shah remarked, While it explores themes like toxic fandom and the debate around fan ownership, The Red Mask pushes the meta even further—holding up a mirror to our obsession with controlling stories and the blurry line between homage and possession.”

Ahead of its FrightFest debut, we’ve got a new teaser clip from The Red Mask, which gives you a taste of the horrors to come.
