If you thought shark movies couldn’t get any wilder, think again. From Kiah Roache-Turner, the writer and director behind the hit horror films Sting and Wyrmwood, comes a new nightmare: Beast of War. The official trailer for this WWII-era shark movie has just been unleashed.

A Grueling Fight for Survival

Beast of War throws us into the chaos of World War II. The film follows a warship carrying Australian soldiers to the front lines. But a sudden, brutal attack by Japanese fighter jets leaves a handful of survivors stranded on a makeshift raft, floating in a sea of steel, fire, and blood. Their battle with the enemy is over, but a far deadlier one is just beginning. Drawn by the smell of blood in the water, an enormous great white shark begins to hunt them, turning their desperate attempt at survival into a terrifying game of cat and mouse.

An Old School Monster

What makes this film even more exciting for horror fans is the monster itself. In a rare move for a modern shark movie, the beast in Beast of War is mainly created by practical effects. The talented team at Formation Effects handled the creature. It was created using a masterful mix of old-school animatronics, puppeteering, and cutting-edge visual effects. This blend ensures the shark feels incredibly realistic and elevates the terror far beyond that of typical CGI creatures.

A Talented Cast

The film stars Mark Coles Smith, Joel Nankervis, Sam Delich, and Lee Tiger Halley. It’s produced by Blake Northfield and Chris Brown, who also worked on the acclaimed film Sting.

Bloody Violence

Beast of War is rated “R” for its “bloody, violent content, gore, and language,” so you know it’s not holding back.

Dive into Beast of War when it debuts at  Fantastic Fest next month. It will then be released in theaters and on VOD from Well Go USA on October 10th.
