If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers that keep you guessing, you’re in for a treat this autumn. Prime Video is set to premiere “Lazarus,” a new limited series. The show is the latest project from the brilliant minds of best-selling author Harlan Coben and BAFTA-winning screenwriter Danny Brocklehurs. The duo is responsible for smash hits like The Stranger and Fool Me Once.
The Story: A Son’s Search for Truth
At the heart of the story is Laz (Sam Claflin), a forensic psychologist. Laz must return to his childhood home following the death of his father, Dr. Lazarus (Bill Nighy). As Laz grapples with his father’s passing, he is pulled into a series of cold-case murders that echo his sister’s killing 25 years ago.
The casting for “Lazarus“ is a significant draw. Sam Claflin, known for his roles in Daisy Jones & The Six and Me Before You, not only stars but also serves as an executive producer. He is forced to confront buried trauma while trying to solve a new, terrifying mystery. Joining him is the iconic Bill Nighy, whose performance as Dr. L is at the heart of the show’s emotional core. Alexandra Roach (Killing Eve, Nightsleeper) rounds out the cast as Jenna, Laz’s daughter, who is forced to confront her own past as the strange events unfold.
The Creative Vision
In a statement, Harlan Coben described the series as a story of “loss, redemption, and the eternal bond between a parent and a child.” Danny Brocklehurst echoed this sentiment, adding that the show is a “psychological thriller with an emotional spine.” He assured fans that the series would be packed with their trademark wit, warmth, and, of course, “twists galore.”
The premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, but we do know that “Lazarus” is set to arrive on Prime Video this autumn.
