The Black Phone 2 has officially joined the list of highly anticipated horror sequels, with a chilling new trailer that just dropped ahead of its fall release! And it turns the once human villain into something far more sinister.
The original film followed 13-year-old Finney Shaw (Mason Thames). He was abducted by the sadistic, mask-wearing child killer known as The Grabber (Ethan Hawke). His escape seemed impossible until a disconnected phone on the wall of his prison began to ring. This allowed him to hear the voices of The Grabber’s previous victims, who offered him clues to escape.
A New Location, a Familiar Terror
The new trailer gives us a tantalizing glimpse into a new setting, different victims, and, of course, the return of that ominous black phone. It opens with Finney, now older, answering a call in a phone booth, only to hear The Grabber’s chilling voice on the other end.
Flashes of brutal encounters with new victims hint that the sequel will be even more action-packed and more terrifying than the original. The trailer suggests that true evil transcends death… and the phone is ringing again for Finney.
As a horror fan, it’s hard not to see that the filmmakers took some inspiration from Freddy Krueger’s playbook, attacking victims in their sleep.
Madeleine McGraw and Jeremy Davies are reprising their roles alongside Hawke and Thames, promising to continue the terrifying saga. New to the cast is Demián Bichir (The Nun).
Just in Time for Halloween
The Black Phone 2 is scheduled to hit cinemas on October 17, 2025. Get ready to answer the call!
