Get ready for a tense, atmospheric thrill ride! Filmmaker Jason Brown is back with his latest indie horror feature, Emerald Cottage. This film blends classic British horror with a polished, cinematic style, promising a chilling experience for fans of smart, psychological horror.
Emerald Cottage channels the suffocating unease of A24 horrors, with a focus on patience, atmosphere, and haunting silence. Set in the British countryside, it’s a unique blend of folk horror and psychological terror that delivers a fresh take on the genre with unforgettable visuals and a strong central performance from Charlotte Wallis.
The Story: A Post-War Nightmare
The film is set in England at the end of World War II. Nancy, an undertaker’s assistant, takes on an unexpected job in a remote, rural area. She is tasked with looking after the body of a young girl who has died under mysterious circumstances. Alone with the body in an isolated cottage, Nancy begins to prepare her for the wake. However, she soon discovers that things are not what they seem, as a deep psychological dread takes hold.
The film, a Tricky Films Production in association with MK61, also stars Emmy Award winner Sean Kanan, Rafe Bird, Peter Watson, and Sadie Kime.
