Supe fans, are you ready?! The new season of Amazon Prime’s “The Boys” spin-off, “Gen V,” is gearing up for an even more shocking return! Amazon just announced that Gen V is set to return for its second season on September 17th, 2025. And get this, it will debut with a three-episode premiere.
Along with this exciting premiere date, a new trailer has also arrived, teasing some of the intense challenges Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Emma (Lizze Broadway), and Jordan (London Thor and Derek Luh) will face as they return for another year at Godolkin University.
Adding to the buzz, Hamish Linklater, known for his stellar work in shows like “Legion,” “Fargo,” and Mike Flanagan’s “Midnight Mass,” is joining the cast as the new Dean of Godolkin University!
A New (Potentially Sinister) Leader
Variety previously reported that Linklater’s character will fill the void left by Dean Shetty (Shelley Conn), who met a gruesome fate in season one. While Shetty initially appeared benevolent, the truth revealed her to be the sadistic mastermind behind the university’s horrific experiments. The college desperately needs a new leader, but within the twisted world of “The Boys”, that’s easier said than done, because as we know, looks can be deceiving.
The official description paints Linklater’s character, Cipher, as a” charismatic and charming” man whose political astuteness garners the trust of high-level officials. Is Cipher the stabilizing influence Godolkin craves, or is there more to the story? The new trailer hints at a more sinister agenda.
With the White House now effectively under Homelander’s control, Godolkin has become a very different, even more unsettling place. A significant portion of the superpowered student body is beginning to adopt the notion that regular humans are inferior beings. That’s the very message the new dean, Cipher, seems to want his students to take to heart as they learn to wield their powers by participating in what looks suspiciously like a school-sanctioned fight club. But it’s hard for Marie and her friends to see Cipher as anything but an enemy, especially after the university locked them away for trying to stop Sam (Asa Germann) and Cate (Maddie Phillips) from murdering people without abilities.
The Cast Returns, With a Heavy Heart
The series boasts a massive cast, including Jaz Sinclair, Lizzie Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Derek Luh, Sean Patrick Thomas, Alexander Calvert, and Marco Pigossi. Guest stars Jason Ritter and Shelley Conn also appeared in season one.
Sadly, the series is down one actor after Chance Perdomo tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident last March, ahead of the season’s production starting.
Reportedly, “Gen V’s“ younger characters will be the primary focus this season. The new trailer also makes it clear that the season will spend more time with Polarity (Sean Patrick Thomas) as he investigates the death of his son, Andre (Chance Perdomo). Suffice to say that the “Gen V” kids aren’t looking great, but as dire as the situation is about to get rough, it seems like the young supes won’t be going down without a fight this fall. Get ready for “Gen V” to return this month!
